Using evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), founded on resiliency and a strengths-based approach that values diversity, culture, and the needs of each child as their own, whole person within the context of their family- it is my goal to help each client navigate their unique path with support, encouragement, education, and guidance tailored to help them reach their goals.
Working with children and their families is a collaborative journey that we embark on together, with open communication, care, and respect, every step of the way. The practice of assessment and/or treatment is a process of seeking understanding to help create empathy, support, and intervention that allows for improved functioning in meaningful ways. Building rapport with children by allowing them to feel safe, seen, heard, valued, and validated is what lays the foundation for not only clinical or therapeutic progress, but for their personal motivation, success, and life long skill building. As a bonus, it never hurts to find a little laughter and fun along the way, because play is truly the work of children.
